REPORTS TO: Director of Public Health and Environment

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Perform general public health nursing duties in the office, area schools and community. Supports other public health staff in the delivery of public health services in Prowers and Kiowa Counties. Administer vaccinations to both children and adults. Provide health screenings to children in daycare and school settings and support school nursing services for 3 schools. Interview clients to obtain personal and routine medical data in accordance with communicable disease policies and procedures. Have knowledge of HIPPA and FERPA. Work
collaboratively with other public health and community programs and support/lead coalitions. Afterhours and weekend response occasionally required.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Must have a current Colorado Registered Nurse license. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint) and social media. Knowledge of public health policies and programs. Bi-lingual Spanish speaker a bonus, but not required. Must be grounded and organized and yet flexible and open to the changing demands of the job in public health. Must have a valid driver’s license, pass a background check, and be willing to travel. Willing to step into tasks as needed and requested by the Director.
