MOTOR VEHICLE RENEWALS
You may not register or renew a vehicle license plate if you do not physically live in Prowers County with a Prowers County residential address and that your vehicle is housed in this county.
Renewal postcards are mailed from the State of Colorado a month prior to your license plate expiration which are courtesy reminders. They are not a required mailing.
If you no longer own the vehicle, disregard the notice.
Mail payment and postcard to the Prowers County Clerk, 301 S. Main St., Ste. 210, Lamar, CO 81052.
Include proof of insurance if printed on the postcard.
Renew your license plates, change your physical or mailing address, request a duplicate title or a duplicate vehicle registration online at: mydmv.colorado.gov
Drop your renewal card and payment in the drop box, open 24/7, located in the parking lot on the east side of the courthouse building. Be sure to provide a contact name and telephone number. Checks and Money Orders are made payable to Prowers County Clerk.
You can call the County Clerk’s Office (719-336-8011) to renew your license plates over the phone with a credit card and your stickers will be mailed to you.
If you did not receive your renewal card, the TIMELY RENEWAL OF YOUR REGISTRATION IS STILL YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.
Prowers County vehicle owners will be required to pay any additional late fees for vehicles renewed after their grace period, as provided by C.R.S. §42-3-111.
